For The Oncoming Corner #11, I have invited Fia Backström, Katherine Hubbard, Clara López Menéndez and Jen Rosenblit. In some ways I have established different kind of collaborations with all of them, me being sometimes part of their practices or they of mine. This meeting will focus on various aspects of being together, sharing and making work with one another.

For me the question of “authorship” within our different fields of action: visual art, dance, the choreographic, performance art and writing, especially in relationship to notions of ownership and property, is a never ending conflict area of investigation.

Why do we want to do things together? How do we name it when we collaborate? What are we actually doing when we say we do things together? When are we not doing things together? How can we use shared authorship (no authorship)? Where does “I” begin and where do “you” start?

Fia, Katie, Clara and Jen have been invited to share statements on this subject, hoping to start a dialogue about the ways in which we work collaboratively (or not).

I also imagine ideas around responsibility and trust can be brought up in our conversation, although the course of this dialogue remains unforeseeable, as it will be mutually constructed by the experiences and opinions brought in by the invited participants and the corner attendees.
