Avhandling / Av_handling (Dissertation / Through_action)

As a PhD candidate, within the structure of Stockholm University of the Arts, we are asked to share our research during different stages of our research project. This is expected to be done through 3 different % seminars (del seminarium), supposedly during 30%, 50%, and 80% seminars.

The purpose of the % seminars is that the doctoral candidate will present their projects and discuss it with people with relevant skills (one or more opponents) whose task is to thoroughly examine and critically review the project. In this way % seminar is a way for the candidate to summarize the work where it is at in that moment, and develop expositions- and discussion forms in which the PhD project interacts with peers in the science and art fields.

The role of the opponent(s) is to thoroughly examine the PhD project, give a description / summary of how they have perceived the project, and lead a discussion with the PhD candidate where they ask critical and constructive questions to the project and highlight both the strong and the weak sides of it.

The first seminar was organized in May 2012, this 30% research seminar was a 5-hour seminar which were hosted by Weld in Stockholm. In May 2014 I organized 67,3% performative research seminar a 3-day seminar also in collaboration with Weld in Stockholm. The Final seminar (90% seminar) was a 6-hour seminar hosted by School of Dance and Circus in Stockholm in October 2015.
