For The Oncoming Corner #15, artist Imri Sandström is invited to perform and discuss (S)TONE TOLD, a performance version of the exhibition (S)TONE, dealing with the materiality of language and potentialities of text. Informed by feminist critique of the human-other divide, the performance explores the possibility of historical non-verbal narratives based on the assumption that materials within themselves carry their own historicity, and that any artistic work is a collaboration between the artist, the space and the materials within in the work.

The performance is built around the sound composition (S)TONE STILL HEAR, which is composed of sounds from a stone and brick cellar built in the 14th and 15th century - recordings of vocals as well as the mere sounds of the space itself. The main vocals follow a medieval technique for composition, isorythm. No musical instruments were recorded, and no additional vocals have been added outside of the cellar. The recordings have been edited and manipulated into a 19 minute sound piece, consisting of nothing but the sounds of two days of recordings during the summer of 2013.
