For The Oncoming Corner #17, the Toronto based artists Sharlene Bamboat and Alexis Mitchell are invited to talk about their collaborative art practice as Bambitchell.
Their work, while it differs in form, explores themes of borders and citizenship, migration and immigration. They will trace the trajectory of their practice and the ways they use site-specificity and audience participation.
They will also discuss working in collaboration and will engage other participants of The Oncoming Corner.
Most of their work is informed partly by written texts (news articles, fiction, theoretical works etc.), therefore they will open up the meeting with a group reading of a section of Dionne Brand's book A Map to the Door of No Return (2001).
